Russ Mathis joined DVI Training Systems as Manager of Training Development in August 2024 following a distinguished 20-year career as a pilot in the United States Coast Guard. He brings with him a wealth of experience, having served as an instructor across numerous mission sets including Search and Rescue, Airborne Use of Force, Shipboard-Helicopter Operations, and Rotary Wing Air Intercept. He was also the Deputy Chief of Training for the Coast Guard’s largest fleet of helicopters while concurrently managing the service’s Crew Resource Management program.
Russ’ passion for safety and training drove him to pursue further education and experience in aviation mishap analysis, human factors and instructional systems design. An engaging teacher, he also spends his free time teaching marine navigation to civilians pursuing their U. S. Coast Guard mariner’s license.
Quickly becoming an integral part of our program, Russ leads a team of subject matter experts in the development of technical training content across numerous platforms for a variety of DVITS clients.
