Russ Mathis is the Senior Manager of Training Development at DVI Training Systems. He leads subject matter experts and training professionals in transforming complex technical knowledge into clear, accurate, and operationally relevant instruction.
Russ joined DVITS following a 20-year career as a pilot in the United States Coast Guard. His service included assignments as an instructor across missions such as search and rescue, airborne use of force, shipboard helicopter operations, and rotary-wing air intercept. He also served as Deputy Chief of Training for the Coast Guard’s largest helicopter fleet and managed the service’s Crew Resource Management program.
At DVITS, Russ helps bridge the space between operational expertise and effective training. He works with customers and internal teams to establish technical accuracy, identify the knowledge and decisions that matter most, and organize complicated material in a way learners can understand and apply.
Russ brings an instructor’s mindset and an operator’s sense of responsibility to every program. He understands that details matter because the consequences of misunderstanding them can be significant. His work helps ensure that DVITS training earns the confidence of both the experts who review it and the people who rely on it.
